I’d stolen a papaya

The stolenpapaya

Ever wonder what’s with the ’stolenpapaya’? It isn’t a random nickname.

Extracted from it’s just a rollercoaster anyway:

On a brighter note, what’s the origin of ’stolenpapaya’?

It happened when I was in sec 1 or 2, during Home Economics. We were making a few concoctions of fruit juices and tasked to name each concoction. I remember I was in a group with Darren and some other people. Each group was given a portion of the fruits available. I think I heard the teacher saying that we could get more fruits if we want from the long common table. So the class started making the fruit juices. The amount of papaya given was really pathetic. So I went to the long table to get more. I saw one and cut half INNOCENTLY. After a while, my plump Home E teacher asked, “Who took the papaya?!” Shit. We owned up and she was a little enraged ‘cos she needed to give other classes the papaya for their lessons too. I really didn’t know that they were so stingy to share those papayas among a few classes. Whatever. And so, I named the concoction “Stolen Papaya”.

Shit happens. )

Now you know. It’s nothing suggestive, really.
